M-TEC's OPGW series provide an entirely new form of telecommunication line that is made of a ground for aerial power lines, which contain optical fibers. OPGW combines a ground wire for shielding overhead power transmission lines together with optical fibres for trasnmission of communication signals. The product is designed to resist strong winds, lightning and short circuit current. The OPGW has been designed to meet both the Electrical and Mechanical equivalent of conventional ground wire
FEATURES
- Standard fibre count: 6 ~ 48 fibres
- Good resistance to strong winds, lightning and short circuit current
- High tensile strength and termite protection
USE/APPLICATIONS
- Power line protection system
- Power line operation system
- Maintenance data information system
- Monitoring and controlling electrical power system

BUFFERED LOOSE TUBE (NON METALLIC) OPGW |
CONSTRUCTION:
Optical Fibre
Single Mode (G 652A, B),Low Water Peak Single Mode Fibre (G 652 C), Non-Zero Dispersion Shifted Fibre (G 652 A,B)
Identification
The fibres are individually colour coded and encased in a thermoplastic Buffered Loose Tube, which is also colour coded
Filling compound
Thixotropic gel protects the fibres against excess vibration and moisture ingress
Buffered Loose Tube
The optical fibres are loosely lain in the tube with adequate excess length to ensure the fibres remain stress free when cabled and installed

- The entire optical fibre is subjected to a tensile proof stress in accordance with IEC 60793-1-30
- The proof stress level of the entire optical fibre is equal to 120kpsi (0.86Gpa, 1.2% elongation)
- Aged in 1% hydrogen and one atmosphere per IEC 60793-2
Testing is carried out as follows:
- Optical characteristics
- Mechanical characteristics
- Visual inspection of cable
- Attenuation (Single mode at 1310 / 1550nm)
- Outside diameter
- Colouring of lines
The mechanical characteristics and visual inspection shall be carried out with a frequency of 1 out of 4 drums, starting with the first drum. The first drum shall always be checked when the quantity is less than 4 drums.
Certified test results are provided on request.
